Because we make a point of having close relationship with our employees and consultants, we packed our cars on Thursday 24th Febraury 2022 and left for an Austrian town of Zell am See for a winter teambuilding. To make our relationship even closer we all crammed into a few cars and head into the direction of Austrian Alps. New participants were divided by skies and snowboards just so they didn’t get too scared of our closeness.
We all met at the compulsory stop at Mc Donalds in Ceske Budejovice and took - around our impatient “alfa team”- the first collective picture.
After six-hour drive and a few caffeine and rest stops we reached the Garni Hettlerhof hotel in the evening hours. We quickly unpacked, said hello to the cows in the stockyard and head out for our first dinner together.
Since we like to get sweaty at our teambuilding events, next morning, straight after the organic breakfast we were heading to snow-white slopes of the Schmittenhöhe ski centre, where our foresighted colleagues rent the ski sets while the rest of us were lugging their own.
Even though we are one team, we decided to split into smaller ones after we sussed out everyone’s capabilities in order to satisfy needs of all the riders. After the morning coffee and testing of the renowned Almdudler, we all got together anyway and were riding together (and patiently waited for the slower ones on whose behalf I’d like to take this opportunity to thank you very much).
After we all got with some effort the ski boots off and tried the hotel sauna, we set off for a refreshing walk, some of us through snowdrifts to Seewirt Das Restaurant where the food was really tasty. When we came back to the hotel, we managed to convince the owner (to the joy of other guests) to let us into the common room where we carried on with our nice evening. Soon enough though we went off to sleep because we had another full-on day ahead of us.
On Saturday, one group of daring riders left for a second day of skiing and snowboarding, this time to Saalbach centre where the slopes are longer – ideal for our unweary CEO Honza. The rest of the group went for a walk around the Zeller See Lake, where they were delighted with Austrian scenery and found out that the Czech song “Girls from our kindy” has many more verses and our COO Tomas remembers them all.
After the second full on day, majority of us gained their strength back in the sauna again and we head to our last diner together to a modern restaurant Deins & Meins. Our sales team checked the competition in Oktagon MMA fight on TV and we started to pack again.
On Sunday morning, tired but satisfied we left for the Czech meadows and woods.
Even though the weather wasn’t always in our favour, apart from a tear in the pants we all survived it in good health and brought home lot of beautiful memories. There’s going to be another outing in the summer and because we all enjoyed the view of the lake, maybe the water will lure us again. Will see!
