Unlocking the Power of AI in Cloud Computing

Hi Honza, first of all congratulations on your “The benefits of AI in Cloud Computing” seminar in the Netherlands-Czech Chamber of Commerce! Would you like to tell us a bit about your presentation? Did you have previous experience giving seminars?

Well, I have some experience giving seminars for my team in the process while doing project management for a few years. With that experience, this wasn’t anything new for me but it was new in a way, since it was my first presentation in the Artificial Intelligence Technologies’ topic.

Could you mention which topics were covered during your presentation, and how you guys decided to divide it?

We discussed fundamental IT concepts and examined what the future holds for our clients in this field. Our conversation included security, cloud computing, and data management with a particular focus on Artificial Intelligence (AI) as an aspect of cloud technology.  Tomáš began by introducing the essential aspects of security and data management, and I followed up with a more in-depth explanation of AI.

In your opinion, what was the key aspect during the presentation you found remarkable?

Tomáš and I both played important roles in the presentation. Tomáš provided a broad overview of IT concepts, which was especially helpful for non-experts in the audience, as it gave them a better understanding of the IT industry’s future. My part focused on Artificial Intelligence, which is a topic that many people have heard of but may not fully comprehend. I shared real-life examples and used cases of AI to demonstrate how it can benefit both individuals and companies. One such example was a project that we implemented ourselves, which I shared with the audience. Overall, I believe that our respective contributions were memorable and valuable for the audience.

Could you mention which topics were covered during your presentation, and how you guys decided to divide it?

There was this process for handling invoices that was done manually by the HR department. Each month, contractors must send their invoices and the HR department must process them by reviewing the data, contacting contractors to fix any errors, and inputting the correct data into various systems. But this process was taking up to 30 minutes per invoice and became tedious and repetitive for the HR department, especially when dealing with many contractors. Imagine the context where we had 50 contractors and every process took 30 minutes.

To streamline the process, an AI system was implemented to handle the invoice processing. The AI system now performs all the tasks that were previously done by the HR department, such as data verification and input, error correction, and sending notifications to contractors who did not submit invoices. The HR department is now relieved of this repetitive work, and only receives an email notification once the AI system has completed processing the invoices.

This is how AI systems are customized to fit specific needs, such as personalized controls and logging jobs. This implementation has made the invoicing process more efficient and has reduced the workload of the HR department.

What questions were raised during the seminar presentation and what do you think about them?

I don’t exactly remember about it, but there was a fascinating question raised regarding whether artificial intelligence can be used to help create new business opportunities, or if it is solely focused on improving existing business processes. While many use cases for AI involve automating repetitive and mundane tasks such as data extraction from PDFs, ID cards, pictures, and videos, there are other applications such as chatbots and checkbooks that can significantly enhance a company’s potential for growth.

For instance, chatbots can be extremely helpful in resolving customer inquiries in a timely and efficient manner, especially in large companies where there are a lot of customers attempting to contact the business simultaneously. If there are not enough employees to answer all of the inquiries, the company risks losing potential customers. However, with chatbots, customers can interact with a computer-generated persona that can mimic human behavior, making the interaction feel more natural. Chatbots can answer questions about product pricing, discounts, and other queries that customers may have, thereby improving customer satisfaction and potentially boosting sales.

I think a great example is banks because many people on weekends still have problems with access and they could easily reach the chatbot for help.

There are numerous examples where artificial intelligence can be employed to improve business processes, and the fact that someone posed a question about whether AI can be used to create new business opportunities may be due to a lack of familiarity with the technology. But it was really good that he asked the question, as many people are aware of AI but may not be aware of the wide range of applications that are available today.

Which tools do you believe are highly reliant on artificial intelligence, to the point where they require large amounts of data to be uploaded for the AI to function effectively?

I could say if you are involved in data extraction using OCR, such as extracting data from PDFs and images, it is recommended to prepare the images before running them through artificial intelligence. This involves ensuring that the images are of the same size and have common colors, so that the AI does not have to work extensively on computing them in the background. Using tools like Photoshop can be helpful in preparing the images. When working with chatbots, it is important to have well-structured and good quality data for the chatbot to use as a basis. Having better data helps the chatbot search through databases faster, resulting in quicker responses to customers. Therefore, tools like SQL databases or any other database tool can be useful in this situation.

There are well known advantages regarding AI, in your opinion, what would be the disadvantages or struggles in general?

I think these days many people are concerned about the potential of losing their job due to the implementation of Artificial Intelligence. Here is an example – a woman who manually inputs customer contract data into a system, which could easily be automated using AI. But if the company was to communicate with her that her expertise is valued and could be utilized in other areas, rather than simply performing repetitive tasks, she may not fear losing her job. It’s important for companies to not only communicate the benefits of implementing AI, but also their plans for the future of their employees. Yes it’s predicted that AI may replace some jobs in the future, it’s also expected that new positions will be created, and the current employees can take advantage of the opportunity to learn new skills to work alongside AI. So, the main disadvantage of AI currently is the lack of communication and education about its potential benefits for both companies and employees.

You were mentioning that if people could prepare better themselves in this field they could take a great advantage. In your opinion, from which sources would you recommend to upgrade these skills?

To begin, you can gather information from your surroundings. If you have a friend who works in IT and has some knowledge about AI, you can have a casual conversation over coffee and ask them to explain the basics. If you don’t have such a friend, you can search for basic information about AI on Google or watch free videos on YouTube. Additionally, you can try some free AI tools like ChatGPT for your own experience. ChatGPT is like chatting with a friend who has knowledge of the internet up until 2019. It can answer your questions and provide information about artificial intelligence, including defining it for you.

Yes! I heard about it, we tested one with my friends by typing in Korean and it also works perfectly! It’s impressive the different language inputs that can be accepted.

If you have an interest in AI, you can enrich your knowledge by studying its implementation. For example, if earning money through AI is your goal, you can start with Udemy courses or AI services offered by big cloud companies like Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, and Google. Their websites provide extensive information on AI services and successful use cases in different industries such as finance. For instance, if you are a bank manager seeking to improve your finance processes through AI, Microsoft’s website has numerous solutions and use cases that can guide you. You can learn from the stories of successful AI implementation and even connect with the manager responsible for the implementation to gain more insight. There is a lot of information available on the internet, you can find the solutions you need in order to achieve your goals.

Would you be interested in doing another seminar again? If so, where and about which topic would you like to present and what resources would you like to take with you for the public to try what has been explained?

I would like it if we could maintain the communication regarding AI with the attending companies, as we received feedback from 16 companies, and only 14 of them were impressed. It would be great if we could discuss AI with each company and possibly examine their processes to see where we could offer assistance. If we could implement even a single process using AI in one of these companies, it would be a tremendous achievement for us.

Now for future seminars, I would like to gain more knowledge about various areas such as chatbots, working with videos and AI, and other related services. Once I have learned more about these topics, I would be enthusiastic to share my knowledge with a larger audience.
